HellermannTyton is the rail industry’s supplier of choice, with the certifications customers count on. We have developed a series of versatile cable management products and tested against the latest fire performance standards defined by NFPA 130 as well as international fire performance standards under EN 45545.
Simply stated, we’ve got you covered for rail infrastructure and rolling stock cable management applications. You want to operate safely and profitably; our solutions pass the most stringent tests in the industry while boosting your bottom line.
Heavy duty plastic engineered products can replace metal, particularly with our unique, new material blends and proprietary design capabilities. These are our strengths, and what customers know us for.
Rail customers tell us they need to reduce labor costs and get products to market faster. These are two areas where experience pays off. Our engineers frequently study the parts that wear fastest in infrastructure applications as well as on rolling stock. By replacing multi-component metal parts with higher quality plastic solutions, we can increase durability, reduce parts and speed installation times.
Our reputation as material experts is a direct result of our industry stewardship in this area. Partnering with our resin suppliers, we have developed a material blend particularly suited for the rail industry, ushering in a new level of low-smoke, low-flame and low-toxicity performance and meeting the latest international (EN 45545) and North American (NFPA 130) standards.
Understanding the extensive capabilities of injection molding enables us to consider areas where many parts can be replaced by one. For example, each of our revolutionary Ratchet P-Clamps replaces several standard P-clamps and brackets. Some applications warrant a custom solution, and we have assisted several major manufacturers with part-saving, time-saving innovations. Using lightweight yet durable materials such as our wrap around and woven braided sleeving offers easy access, which can make MRO less costly.
Our sophisticated product designs demonstrate how resin can replace metal in a wide range of industries, including rail, automotive, heavy equipment, aerospace and alternative energies. We’re meeting the demanding challenges facing rail product design engineers, installers and repair technicians alike. With a total wire management assessment, our team can help consolidate parts, reduce vehicle weight, reduce installation errors and labor costs and increase energy and operating efficiencies.
We leverage decades of technical expertise to bring the best products to our North American customers. The engineering is here, the manufacturing is here. Yet, no matter where in the world a part is specified, we can seamlessly provide it through our global reach and relationships.
Material properties play a critical role in performance, durability and safety.
In North America and around the world, rail authorities want to know our products pass the tests, including:
HellermannTyton offers the solutions you need to adhere to these standards.
Metal parts are traditionally specified because metal is equated with durability. In most cases, our nylon solutions (conduit and clamps, for example) are engineered to offer comparable durability with reduced weight and cost. Reduced weight contributes to fuel or electrical savings.
We make installation simpler and faster with rail industry-specific engineering. Nylon conduit fittings with nickel plated brass swivel threads snap on quickly, reducing labor time and costs. Ratchet P-Clamps eliminate extra mounting hardware, and they are easily serviceable to reduce operational downtime.
Conduit and fittings are designed to withstand punishing vibration and impact, ensuring reliable ingress protection and safety. Even relatively simple products, like our cable ties and mounts, beat performance expectations under harsh environments and deliver long-term reliability not seen with most competitive solutions.
The London Underground had a unique challenge. They needed to replace an expensive and heavy metal P-Clamp. Personnel must carry the parts through miles of London Underground tunnels in backpacks. The challenge: to have a lightweight part that’s strong enough for the application and passes rigorous vibration tests. Our Milwaukee material specialists made it happen, using our exclusive Ratchet P-Clamp and a new nylon formulation that is NFPA 130 and EN45545-2 compliant.
